Claire will be leaving us at the end of June, if you are a Physiotherapist please contact us.
Clare Cowell is a chartered physiotherapist, having qualified in 2004 from Keele University with Honours in her physiotherapy degree. She then went to work in NHS to complete her rotational learning, in areas including trauma and orthopaedics, neurology, respiratory and intensive care, and musculoskeletal outpatients. Clare quickly developed an interest in treating muscle and joint disorders, and went back to Keele University to complete an MSc in this area.
As part of her master’s degree Clare undertook her first acupuncture training, and became a member of the Acupuncture Association of Physiotherapists (AACP). Clare has continued to develop her love for acupuncture with advanced needling courses, and is also training in Eastern Medicine at Shulan College in Manchester. The combination of Eastern and Western medical backgrounds means Clare is in a unique position to offer multiple treatment options for not only muscle and joint issues, but also digestive disorders, sinus problems and fertility issues to name but a few.
Clare worked for the NHS for 8 years before moving totally to private practice. During this time Clare worked within Macclesfield District General Hospital, Knutsford Community Hospital and Oakwood Medical Centre (GP surgery). Clare has also worked in sports injury clinics, private physiotherapy practices and for Connect Physical Health, a private healthcare company specialising in on-site occupational health.
Clare takes a holistic view of every patient, and will offer advice and education as part of every treatment plan. Clare is also qualified to use conventional physiotherapy electrotherapy, such as ultrasound and TENS. Clare is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HPC), and more information on these organisations can be found on the following websites:
